IPAC20

The 11th International Particle Accelerator Conference was hosted by the GANIL/SPIRAL2 laboratory and supported by the global French accelerator community (CNRS, CEA, SOLEIL and ESRF).

IPAC is the main international event for the worldwide accelerator community and industry. Attendees presented advanced accelerator research and development results and gain the latest insights into accelerator facilities across the globe. With over 1000 delegates and 70 industry exhibits this is a unique opportunity to network with, learn from and meet a wide range of decision makers, opinion leaders, buyers and newcomers to the field. During IPAC, it's the opportunity to meet and interact with accelerator scientists, engineers, students, and industrials.

IPAC’20 would have been normally taken place on 10-15 May 2020 in the beautiful Caen in France. Finally, the conference turned to a virtual format from 10-14 May 2020 with up to 3,000 registered people, 77 virtual presentations and a live closing session.

GANIL Community Meeting

The first GANIL-Community Meeting will be held from October the 8th to the 12th 2018 at the Musée des Beaux Arts of Caen (France).

The purpose of the meeting is to bring together the whole GANIL community to discuss and define coherently the future research programs for GANIL.

Several presentations will be organized to review both the intended experimental and theoretical programs related to GANIL covering the main topics as follows: study of the N~Z nuclei, nuclear structure at the shells closures, nuclear dynamics, study of Heavy Elements (Z>92), application to the Nuclear Astrophysics, Atomic Physics, giant collective modes, and phenomena at the particle threshold. An overview of the status of the infrastructures (accelerators, spectrometers and instrumentation) will also be given.

For every physics topic, a series of presentations will be organized addressing: open questions in the field, SPIRAL2 Phase1 physics program, cyclotrons/SPIRAL1 physics program, challenges for nuclear physics theory (where applicable). These presentations, resulting from the in-depth review work of a group of experts, will cover the state-of-the-art of the field and the physics programs to be developed in the upcoming 5-year time period.

Together with the users, these will serve to trigger discussion to establish GANIL’s experimental program, the related theoretical research and the corresponding calls for proposals. A poster session will be also organized.

The GANIL community meeting will be also the occasion for the first constituting meeting of the newly elected GANIL User Executive Committee (GUEC). To become a member, please register at https://u.ganil-spiral2.eu/portal/

EURORIB 2018

The conference is jointly organised by the main Radioactive Ion Beam (RIB) facilities in Europe, presently engaged in the major upgrades HIE-ISOLDE@CERN, NUSTAR@FAIR, SPES@LNL and SPIRAL2@GANIL with the long-term goal of EURISOL. The collaborations built around these facilities are exploring new experimental and theoretical ideas that will advance the understanding of nuclear structure and reactions as well as nuclear astrophysics through studies of exotic nuclei. Following the spirit of the conferences held in Giens (2008), Lamoura (2010), Abano Terme (2012) and Hohenroda (2015) the EURORIB 2018 will provide the opportunity for the scientific community and different collaborations to come together and present new ideas, and explore the synergies between the research programs based around the different accelerator projects.

The main topics to be discussed at the conference are :
 1)   Future RIB facilities
2)   At and beyond the dripline and new modes of radioactivity
3)   Nuclear structure far from stability and hypernuclei
4)   Transuranium nuclei
5)   Dynamics and Thermodynamics of exotic nuclear systems
6)   Direct Reactions with radioactive beams
7)   Nuclear astrophysics
8)   Fundamental interactions
9)   Applications to other fields
10)   Instrumentation, electronics and data acquisition systems
11)   Production and manipulation of RIB

4th In-kind best practice workshop

Starring the dream team of experts: YOU!
Supported by our international team of invited consultants  from GANIL, CEA, CNRS, European XFEL, ESS, FAIR and GSI.

Let’s sound out in-kind best practice as it emerges, and see how we can apply it to our home institutes and to our host institute, GANIL. We are striving for a large bandwidth of knowledge and experience amongst the invited consultants and the attendees in general.

You are cordially invited to learn, teach and exchange in this open space workshop.

We will work in groups to develop questions and solutions that are close to our hearts. We are aiming for results that we can take back to our home institutes and apply directly. All the resources that we develop together at IKBest4 will be posted to the workshop wiki, to be shared freely on a creative commons attribute and share-alike basis.
